Day 1   Sunday 5 June 2021           Lunch, Dinner

We pick you up this morning from home and travel north to Lake Macquarie for a Luncheon Cruise. The Cruise takes us along Lake Macquarie, the largest permanent coastal saltwater lake in the Southern Hemisphere and some of the most beautiful waterways in New South Wales. On a Lake twice the size of Sydney Harbour, we will enjoy commentary from the Captain whilst looking for dolphins. After leaving the cruise we make our way to our accommodation for the next two nights. During our stay at the Old Maitland Inn we will enjoy a traditional Yulefest Dinner, celebrating Christmas in the Winter like they do in the Northern Hemisphere. Old Maitland Inn

Day 2   Sunday 6 June 2021       Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
This morning after breakfast we have a short drive to the Maitland Showgrounds where they hold the Maitland Markets. The Markets have been going since 1980 when they started with 60 stalls and this has grown to over 600. After leaving the markets we go into Maitland for lunch at one of the local cafes. Next, we travel to Morpeth for a Driving Guided Tour with the Local Guide. Here we learn about the History of the Town, the
Hunter River, and the growth of the Town in conjunction with Sydney and Newcastle. See where business like Arnotts, Sims Metal, Soul Patterson, and other people all started their businesses. After the tour there is time to soak up the diverse range of boutiques, cafes, galleries and scenery that make up this beautiful Village. After leaving Morpeth it is a short drive to the Maitland Gaol. We will be met by our Local Guide who will immerse us in the history of the gaol, telling us stories of all sorts of heroes and villains. The Guide with give us a most informative tour of the 150 year old institution. We delve into all parts of the site and learn of the changes that have occurred in the prisoner treatment throughout the life of this oldest continuously operating correctional facility in Australia. Then we leave to go back to the Motel to freshen up before dinner or perhaps a quick nap.

Day 3   Monday 7 June 2021                          Breakfast
Today it is time to pack our bags, have breakfast and head off to Tocal Homestead. Here we will have morning tea and a tour of the Homestead situated on one of Australia’s oldest Colonial working farms. The property was one of the first land grants in the Paterson Valley. Our Guide will inform us of the History of the land from 1822 till present day. After
leaving the Homestead we head towards the M1 and travel south towards home stopping for lunch at our own cost. We say good bye at your home after a very informative few days with Brian and Mary learning about our colonial history
